Dr. Tsunehiro Mochizuki is an honorary professor at Miyazaki Medical University in Japan. In 1983, he
discovered that a European species of red earthworm produces a protein enzyme capable of dissolving
fibers, which can dissolve remaining skin after death. Further extraction and refinement from the
intestines and body fluids of the red earthworm led to the creation of a novel dissolving enzyme,
which he named "Lumbrokinase."
